In true Ntsiki style, the show is brutally honest, candid and direct. You will laugh, you will cry, she will make you feel human.
Ntsiki Mazwai, aka the Streetqueen, has established herself firmly in the South African cultural landscape as a poet, beadwork artist, MC, producer and musician. A trailblazing force within the industry, she has always been known for her enviable stage presence and ability to connect with different kinds of audiences. Watershed is sure to bring attention to Mazwai’s growth as an artist.
FROM THE ARTIST:
Why did you name the show Watershed?
Ntsiki: Watershed is the moment that changes the course of events. I turn 35 on the 3rd of September. I am leaving my youth behind and starting my new journey officially as an adult. Ntsiki is a big girl now….and in my culture one holds a rite of passage to celebrate leaving one stage of life to enter another.
Is Watershed a rite of passage?
Ntsiki: Definitely. And everybody who comes to the show must know that this is no ordinary show, yinkonzo. (it’s a sermon)
What do you want the audience to walk away with?
Ntsiki: I want the audience to have their own WATERSHED moment.
Watershed will be at the Afrikan Freedom Station in Westdene on SATURDAY 5 SEPTEMBER 8PM. Tickets will be sold at the door at R50. Cashbar, Books and Cds on sale.
